Muy recomendable para paseos familiares o tardes en vehículos, el mirador del Cerro Cordón está ubicado a pasos del Refugio a cargo del Club de Montaña Nevados de Aysén, quienes promueven y educan en torno a las actividades de montañismo y escalada, cuidando y respetan-do la naturaleza.
En este lugar se puede obtener información, guiados y salida al cerro cordón, además de acceder a las zonas de escalada que se encuen-tran muy cerca de ahí.

Escalada en roca
Dentro de las actividades deportivas que se realizan en las faldas del cerro por una gran diversidad de jóvenes aiseninos, encontramos la escalada deportiva y tradicional, las cuales se practican en 3 sectores privados de familias locales.
Sector Champona
Es el sector más antiguo del lugar y también el más fácil para la escalada, se pueden encontrar 5 rutas escuelas o de aprendizaje de 5 a 6 chapas cada una y de un grado de 5.6a a 5.9a.
El tipo de roca es granito y su accesibilidad es a través del sector La Gruta en el km 5 Aysén – Chacabuco por el campo privado de la familia Jiménez a 20 minutos caminando desde la entrada.
Sector El Fogón
Es el segundo sector y el con más variedad de rutas donde podrás encontrar 9 rutas de escalada deportiva de 6 a 8 chapas y de un grado de 5.10a a 5.12a , en tipo de roca granito, el lugar es privado y está a 30 minutos caminando desde La Gruta hacia mano izquierda.
Sector Refugio
Es el sector más nuevo del lugar está a 20 minutos del refugio en sendero de escalinatas por la selva y en él podrás encontrar rutas de escalada deportiva de 4 a 7 chapas en tipo de roca granitos y en grados de dificultad de del 5.10a a el 5.12a.
Trekking Cerro Cordón
Una actividad desafiante y motivadora en la visita a la Ruta del Agua es completar con éxito el ascenso al cerro Cordón. Es una actividad de día completo que se recomienda iniciar muy temprano en la mañana a las 7.00 am o 8.00 am máximo con el fin de tener la mayor cantidad de horas luz necesarias.
Su ascenso se caracteriza por complejas pendientes, con abundante vegetación y un bosque intenso que rodea todo a tu alrededor por más de 3 horas hasta subir a la zona de alta montaña sobre los 1.000 metros.
En su ascenso sobre los 700 mts (metros sobre el nivel del mar) se aprecian bosques en altura donde predominan especies Nothofagus, entre ellos; Lengas, Coihues y Tepas.
Zona de las Bancas
El sector de descanso más óptimo es la zona de Las Bancas, denominado así por un espacio de madera y plano dentro de las posibilidades del cerro, ubicado en la mitad de la ruta en la cota a 600 mts donde hay un descanso que suele ser de 30 minutos para alimentación y recuperar el aire. Esta zona también se puede determinar como zona de seguridad por su ubicación estratégica.

Rock climbing
Among the sports activities carried out on the slopes of the hill by a great diversity of young people from Aisen, we find sports and traditional climbing, which are practiced in 3 private sectors of local families.
Champona Sector
It is the oldest sector of the place and also the easiest for climbing, you can find 5 school or learning routes of 5 to 6 plates each and a grade of 5.6a to 5.9a.

Trekking Cerro Cordón
A challenging and motivating activity when visiting the Water Route is to successfully complete the ascent to Cordón Hill. It is a full-day activity that is recommended to start very early in the morning at 7.00 am or 8.00 am maximum in order to have the greatest number of light hours necessary.
Its ascent is characterized by complex slopes, with abundant vegetation and an intense forest that surrounds everything around you for more than 3 hours until you climb to the high mountain area above 1,000 meters.
In its ascent above 700 meters (meters above sea level) you can see high forests where Nothofagus species predominate, among them; Lengas, Coihues and Tepas.
