La Carretera Austral es la puerta de entrada norte a la Ruta del Agua, haciendo del río Mañihuales y sus afluentes un gran protagonista. Este río nace a 15 kilómetros al norte de Villa Mañihuales donde se une el río Toqui con el río Picaflor que son afluentes de montañas nevadas.
La palabra Mañihuales proviene de la unión de Mañío y Baguales, el primero es un árbol que abunda en el sector, y Baguales, palabra que denomina a animales salvajes de ganado que viven en diversas áreas remotas de la Patagonia. Esta villa fue forjada por colonos en los años 30′ donde se abrió paso en el valle de Mañihuales para criar ganado. Villa Mañihuales es un sector de paso para diferentes tipos de viaje; Tour Queulat, Puente Piedra, bicicletas, casas rodantes y vehiculos Carretera Austral. Tiene diversos servicios turísticos, destacan sus desayunos y almuerzos al paso. El poblado cuenta con restaurantes, quinchas y alojamientos.
The Carretera Austral is the northern gateway to the Water Route, making the Mañihuales River and its tributaries a great protagonist. This river is born 15 kilometers north of Villa Mañihuales where the Toqui River joins the Picaflor River, which are tributaries of snow-capped mountains.
The word Mañihuales comes from the union of Mañío and Baguales, the first is a tree that is abundant in the sector, and Baguales, a word that refers to wild livestock animals that live in various remote areas of Patagonia. This town was forged by settlers in the 1930s where they made their way into the Mañihuales valley to raise cattle. Villa Mañihuales is a transit area for different types of trips; Tour Queulat, Puente Piedra, bicycles, motor homes and Carretera Austral vehicles. It has various tourist services, including breakfasts and lunches on the go. The town has restaurants, barbecue areas and accommodations.
Puente Piedra
Se destaca por sus aguas transparentes que con la luminosidad del sol hacen de este lugar un escenario natural lleno de colores. Sus profundidades se plasman de cuarzo blanco y piedra laja. El sector se conforma de piedra de granito muy valorada y segura, ideal para hacer treking liviano y bucear por los ríos cristalinos
El acceso al lugar es a través de previos privados, por lo que se recomiendan normas y condiciones:
• Visitar el lugar con guías turísticos locales o personas autorizadas para acceder al recinto.
• Durante la visita mantener y preservar el cuidado del entorno.
Para acceder al lugar se debe realizar un treking liviano de 8 kilómetros, por algunos de los caminos de los propietarios del sector.
El camino que conduce al Puente Piedra es bordeado por los ríos Picacho, Picaflor, Mañihuales y río Cobarde.
Sector Picacho
Se ubica a 40 kilómetros al norte de Villa Mañihuales, en este sector puedes apreciar el cerro Picacho que bordeado por el río Mañihuales, se caracteriza por sus aguas cristalinas y avistamientos de salmones Chinook entre medio del bosque nativo.
Pesca Deportiva
Villa Mañihuales es un centro de pesca de categoría mundial ya que cuenta con ríos. Arroyos, afluentes de montaña, lagos y lagunas a minutos del centro del pueblo contexto en el cual se puede realizar pesca deportiva siempre acompañado por los guías locales y las autorizaciones pertinentes.

Villa Mañihuales es la entrada norte a Puerto Aysén, si viene del norte de Puyuhuapi o Puerto Cisnes debe hacer una pausa y encantarse de las bondades de una de las villas más arraigadas y con sentido de comunidad de toda la Patagonia y si por esas casualidades llegó desde el Aeropuerto a la región, la villa está ubicada a no más de 1 hora de Coyhaique y/o Puerto Aysén.
Stone bridge
It stands out for its transparent waters that, with the luminosity of the sun, make this place a natural setting full of colors. Its depths are reflected in white quartz and flagstone. The sector is made up of highly valued and safe granite stone, ideal for light trekking and diving in the crystalline rivers.
Access to the place is through private access, so the following rules and conditions are recommended:
• Visit the place with local tour guides or people authorized to access the site.
• During the visit, maintain and preserve the care of the environment.
To access the place you must do a light trek of 8 kilometers, along some of the paths of the owners of the sector.
The road that leads to Puente Piedra is bordered by the Picacho, Picaflor, Mañihuales and Cobarde rivers.
Picacho Sector
It is located 40 kilometers north of Villa Mañihuales, in this sector you can see the Picacho hill that bordered by the Mañihuales River, is characterized by its crystal clear waters and sightings of Chinook salmon among the native forest.
Sport fishing
Villa Mañihuales is a world-class fishing center since it has rivers. Streams, mountain tributaries, lakes and lagoons minutes from the center of town, a context in which you can do sport fishing, always accompanied by local guides and the relevant authorizations.

Villa Mañihuales is the northern entrance to Puerto Aysén, if you come from the north of Puyuhuapi or Puerto Cisnes you should take a break and enjoy the benefits of one of the most rooted villages with a sense of community in all of Patagonia and if by chance you arrived from the Airport to the region, the villa is located no more than 1 hour from Coyhaique and/or Puerto Aysén.
